Food Fundi Café is located at Sugar Rush Park in Ballito on the KwaZulu-Natal Dolphin Coast, 15 minutes from King Shaka International Airport and 5 kms from central Ballito, and our day-time restaurant, deli & catering uses only the best farm-to-table ingredients, sourced from local suppliers.
Food Fundi Café makes use of Ballito's year-round sunshine with plenty of outdoor seating for all-day breakfasts and lunches, or linger over a hearty brunch with chilled Cape bubbly, Bloody Marys, fresh smoothies, and great coffee. Soak up the views of the surrounding coastal forest and sugarcane fields, while the kids burn off steam at Sugar Rush Park. Owner Jason Powell is a Prue Leith trained chef, and has worked all over the world, from Norway to 5-star Mozambican islands cooking for the likes of Nelson Mandela and Graça Machel. He’s used to creating beautiful food by foraging, fishing, baking, pickling and preserving everything himself, and the flavours at Food Fundi reflect his travels and experiences.
Serving all-day breakfast, brunch and lunch, Food Fundi Café first opened its doors in the Lowveld in 2011. Deli sandwiches on homemade breads with fresh chutneys, perfectly poached eggs Benedict, decadent double chocolate brownies, delicious coffees and smoothies kept customers coming back for more. Now, Food Fundi has a new home in sunny Ballito but some things will never change; like forging great relationships with suppliers who care just as much as we do.
