Beacon of Care is located in Salt Rock, Ballito and was founded by a dedicated team of people who saw the need for holistic palliative care on the North-Coast (Ballito and surrounding areas). All of them share the desire to make a difference in the quality of life of patients. Our Vision is to make high-quality palliative care readily available for all patients with life-threatening illnesses living on the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
These objectives shall be achieved by: Providing high quality medical, nursing, social, psychological and spiritual care to patients in their home environment or in a hospice facility. Enhancing the quality of life of those cared for and their families through a multidisciplinary approach. Early recognition, prevention and impeccable treatment of pain and other distressing symptoms of their illnesses. Advocacy and education of health care workers, patients and families about palliative care.
What is Palliative Care: Palliative Care is not about dying, but rather about living. It is an approach that seeks to maximise the quality of life, providing support for physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs of those living with life-threatening illnesses.
Make a donation: 50% of our patients are not able to afford care and the medications needed to keep comfortable. Once off donations or monthly pledges of any amount help us to continue vital support of those suffering
All donors will receive an S18A tax certificate. We rely on Community funding and Donors to enable us to treat all those in need (even those who cannot afford to pay for care).
